10th year of continuous growth with record fall 2015-2016 enrollment

The University of Washington Bothell marks its 10th year of continuous growth since it began admitting first year students in 2006. The university welcomed its largest first year class of all time for fall 2015-2016 with a 9 percent increase over the prior year, making it the fastest-growing public university in the state of Washington and among the top ten fastest-growing in the nation. It is also the largest of the five university branch campuses in the state. Read more.

Coal Train Study: Negative impact on Columbia River Gorge air quality

Atmospheric and environmental chemistry professor Dan Jaffe’s research team studied diesel particulate matter and airborne coal dust released from trains traveling in the Columbia River Gorge. Their data show PM2.5 peaks during a coal train passage are nearly 90 percent higher than those during a freight train passage. PM2.5 is a particulate matter known to be a public health risk.
