MFA Directed Research Form

Directed Research is usually conducted through the supervision of MFA core faculty member, although in some instances you may wish to seek out other UWB and UWS faculty. You can earn up to 15 elective credits of Directed Research. When your petition is approved, the Graduate Office will send you a faculty code allowing you to register for BCWRIT 598. Please discuss this request with your proposed Directed Research Faculty Advisor prior to submitting a petition. You are encouraged to discuss plans with your thesis advisors who will be copied on the approval request. While their approval is not required, do keep in contact with your thesis advisor.

Please provide an initial list of books or resources you plan to consult and the order you will consult them. While you may wish to modify these over time in consultation with your Directed Research Faculty Advisor, listing several well-selected sources at the outset is a must.

Please convey what work projects or products you plan to undertake, including approximate number of pages for written work. This may include journal writing, response papers, mid-term or final papers, and any other work you plan to undertake. Please indicate dates for completion of this work (i.e. Fifth week of quarter, tenth week of quarter, finals week, etc.)
