The driver is the software that allows your computer to communicate with the printer; you can usually find the drivers under a &#8220;drivers&#8221; section on the printer manufacturer&#8217;s website (such as www.hp.com) and search for the correct files using the printer&#8217;s model number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are connecting to one of the central Ricoh printers, you will need to get your copy code from you program or department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A valid UW Bothell computing account<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two steps to the process of printing from a personal PC:\u00a0<a href=\"\/it\/training-and-support\/software-hardware-printing\/printing\/printing-personal-windows#connect\">connecting to the print server<\/a>, then\u00a0<a href=\"\/it\/training-and-support\/software-hardware-printing\/printing\/printing-personal-windows#add\">adding print queues<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a>Connect to the Print Server<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the &#8220;Start Menu&#8221;. On Windows XP, click &#8220;Run&#8221;, and enter \\\\printers.uwb.edu into the text field. On Windows 7, enter \\\\printers.uwb.edu into the text field. Hit &#8220;Enter&#8221; or click &#8220;OK&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You should be prompted to authenticate with your UW email and password. Enter your username as netid@uw.edu and enter your password. Keep in mind that passwords are case-sensitive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you have successfully authenticated with the print server, Windows Explorer should open a window containing the available network print queues.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: Your authentication will expire after a period of time, or if you shut down your computer. You will need to repeat this procedure in order to re-authenticate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a>Add Print Queues<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Double click on each print queue that you would like to add.
