{"id":16869,"date":"2020-03-05T17:07:07","date_gmt":"2020-03-05T17:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/?p=16869"},"modified":"2023-10-19T11:58:30","modified_gmt":"2023-10-19T18:58:30","slug":"admin-systems","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/it\/training-and-support\/security-privacy\/remote-access\/admin-systems","title":{"rendered":"Access UW Administrative Systems"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n        <h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\nAccess UW Administrative Systems\n<\/h1>\n\n\n\n        <h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"Back to top\" name=\"Back to top\"><\/a>Access UW administrative systems<\/h2>\n\n<p>You should be able to access many UW administrative systems from your laptop or home computer.<\/p>\n\n<p>On this page:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\t\n<li><a href=\"#Prep\">Prepare in advance<\/a><\/li>\n\n\t\n<li><a href=\"#Work\">When working remotely<\/a><\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"Prep\" name=\"Prep\"><\/a>Prepare in advance<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\t\n<li>If you need to access systems that require <a href=\"https:\/\/itconnect.uw.edu\/security\/uw-netids\/2fa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two-factor authentication<\/a> (2FA), be sure to enroll the device you&rsquo;ll use in the UW&rsquo;s 2FA to verify it&rsquo;s you when you sign in (i.e. WorkDay).\n\n\t\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\t\t\n<li>NOTE: Please use Push Notifications where possible.<\/li>\n\n\t<\/ul>\n\n\t<\/li>\n\n\t\n<li>If you have a UW Bothell managed workstation computer available at work, you can use <a href=\"\/it\/howdoi\/articles\/rdesktop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Remote Desktop<\/a> access with an approved, secure VPN to connect to your work computer, and then you can access UW administrative systems in the usual way.<\/li>\n\n\t\n<li><a href=\"mailto:uwbit@uw.edu?subject=Remote%20access%20to%20adminstrative%20systems\">Email UW Bothell IT<\/a> support staff for information about remotely connecting to the specific systems your department uses.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#Back to top\">Back to top<\/a><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"Work\" name=\"Work\"><\/a>When working remotely<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\t\n<li>Activate a Husky OnNet software, if necessary, to remotely access the UW network.<\/li>\n\n\t\n<li>Authenticate with the system you need to access, with two-factor authentication if necessary.<\/li>\n\n\t\n<li>Use a terminal emulator to access systems that use a command line interface. FileZilla and WinSCP are recommended for Homer, Red, and other Unix systems.
