This training is not intended for new users. Many features and functionalities in Kentico 10 are the same as Kentico 7 so it’s assumed content editors don’t need to have features (images, hyperlinks, etc.) explained in detail and what each button on the toolbar does. However, Kentico 10 trainees will have a chance to practice within the Kentico 10 environment to get familiar with the new user interface.
Version 7 training retired
Thursday March 8th was the last Kentico version 7 training as the Kentico trainer needed to shift attention to the version 10 training sessions happening the month of March.
Introductory training sessions will resume the week of April 16th and will continue on a regular basis. Registration for basic Kentico 10 training is not yet available.
Introductory Kentico trainings
Advancement & External Relations offers an introductory training for UW Bothell web content editors who use Kentico to maintain web pages for their department, program or school. These sessions will temporary stop beginning Friday March 9th through Friday April 13th. Training sessions will resume the week of April 16th.
In this approximately two hour class users will learn:
How to edit content using toolbar features (images, headings, hyperlinks, etc.)
Web accessibility, and content editor responsibilities
Create hyperlinks (external, files, email)
Practice page management (Properties, Checkout, Publish, etc.)
Become familiar with online resources (documentation, UW branding guidelines, accessibility laws, etc.)
It is mandatory to complete a training with Advancement & External Relations. After training is complete, the web team will grant the trainee the agreed upon access.
To access Kentico you must have a UW Bothell Access Account (UWBID). Employees cannot use coworker accounts. A portion of the training is interactive and requires trainees to log in to Kentico; those without a UWBID at the training will be rescheduled.
To get an UWBID, please have your supervisor fill out the UWBID request form. A UWBID and UW NetID are separate accounts. For more information about these accounts, please visit IT's Access Account request page.
Request editing access
To request editing access please fill out the CMS Request Form. The appropriate Primary Publisher will be notified and only they can grant access to their directory.
Access changes coming soon
The responsibility of granting Kentico access will change April 16th when version 10 of Kentico is live. The Web Team will know be responsible for giving new content editors appropriate access to the specified top level directory.
