Kentico Training Overview

Advancement & External Relations offers an introductory class for UW Bothell web publishers and editors who use Kentico to maintain web pages for their department, program or school. In this approximately one and a half hour class users will learn how to:

  • Create and edit web pages and text (copy/paste, headings, tool bar)
  • Proper use of Headings and UW Brand overview
  • Manage images (insert, resize)
  • Create different types of hyper links (web, content, file, email)
  • Practice page management (Properties, Checkout, Publish, etc.)
  • Become familiar with online resources (documentation, UW branding guidelines, accessibility laws, etc.)

It is mandatory to complete a training with Advancement & External Relations immediately after receiving Kentico access. Once you have access, please wait until the training is complete before making edits to the website.

Prerequisites

To access Kentico you must have a UW Bothell Access Account (UWBID). Employees cannot use a coworker's account. A portion of the training is interactive and requires trainees to log in to Kentico; those without a UWBID at the training will be rescheduled.

Request editing access

To request editing rights please fill out the CMS Request Form. After you have submitted this form, an email will be sent to the page's Primary Publisher; only the Primary Publisher of that page can grant access to a directory.

If the site you want access to is not listed on the form, please email uwbadv@uw.edu and the Office of Advancement & External Relations will assist you.

Training dates & registration

Trainings are typically held every other Thursday for approximately 1.5 hours with eight spots available per training. If the date and times below do not work with your schedule, please contact the Kentico trainer, Ashley Magdall, with your availability for assistance: uwbadv@uw.edu

No trainings will be held between November 20th and December 1st

  • Your full name & UWB Access Account username
  • The training session you can attend
  • Department/top level you will be editing (ex: uwb.edu/advancement)
    *You cannot limit access to one page
  • If you're faculty, staff, or student-staff

Supervisors do not need to make training requests for their employees but are welcome to. If making a request for multiple people, please be sure to include all of their information as well.

The user receiving the training will get a training confirmation via Outlook calendar invite with the location and training details from the Kentico trainer.
