Basic Strategies to Mitigate Cheatingin Canvas

  1. Randomize the order of your questions. If your questions don’t need to follow a specific sequence, you can shuffle them for each student by clicking the “Shuffle Answers” box when setting up your quiz/test.
  2. Set a time limit for the students to take their quiz/test. When setting up your quiz/test, you have the option of inputting the number of minutes each student will have to complete the quiz/test. If individual students need accommodation, you can grant them extra time.
  3. Adjust the settings of your quiz to prevent students from seeing the correct answers after they take their quiz/test. The default setting allows students to see correct answers–you will need to uncheck that box when setting up your quiz.
  4. Adjust the settings of your quiz/test to prevent students from seeing more than one question at a time.
