Adding Zoom Recordings to Canvas

You can easily add Zoom recordings to Canvas pages, discussion posts, announcements, etc., by following these instructions:

  1. If you saved the recorded the Zoom session to the cloud go to your Zoom profile page on your browser.
  2. Click on Recordings on the side menu

  3. Find the recording you want to use, either Cloud Recordings or Local Recordings depending on where you saved it. For Cloud Recordings:

    • Under the More drop-down menu, next to the video click Download (3 files)

    • There will be three files in your downloads folder. One of them is audio only of the meeting (.m4a), another is the captions file (.vtt), the video with audio (.mp4).Downloaded files showing a mp4, a m4a and a vtt transcript of the session

  4. For Local Recordings, the files will be saved in the Documents > Zoom folder under the date and time of the recordings
  5. In Canvas, open a Canvas Page, Discussion, Announcement or Quiz where you would like to add the video

  6. Select the Media icon (looks like a play button)

  7. In the Record/Upload Media Comment window, select the Upload Media tab

  8. Choose the Select Video File button

  9. Browse your computer and select the video you want to upload [1]. Click the Open button [2]

  10. A status bar will show you the progress of your video upload. The speed of your upload will depend on your internet connection and the size of your video. Wait for your media to upload. Once the progress bar is full this window will automatically close.

  11. View your video automatically inserted into the Rich Content Editor.

  12. Click the Save button.
    Save and Cancel buttons. save button is highlighted in blue.

    Note: When using the Rich Content Editor in Assignments, Discussions, Pages, and Quizzes, you have the option to Save & Publish. When using the Rich Content Editor in the Syllabus and Discussions pages, the Save button may appear as Update Syllabus or Post Reply.
