{"id":24233,"date":"2024-01-16T19:20:02","date_gmt":"2024-01-16T19:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/?page_id=24233"},"modified":"2026-02-02T18:29:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T18:29:07","slug":"transfer-in","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/new-f-1-students\/initial-i-20-request\/transfer-in","title":{"rendered":"Transfer-in"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"is-style-highlight-paragraph-grey-background\">Students moving from one SEVIS approved school to another are referred to as a &#8220;transfer-in&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you must do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After you have been admitted to UWB, approach the International Student office\/DSO at your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">current school<\/span> to inform them that you are transferring out.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request your SEVIS Release Date with your current school to be after you&#8217;ve completed their courses, and before your start date at UWB. We ask that you release your SEVIS record as early as possible, but we can work with you if you need to release it closer to the start of the quarter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Every school has a slightly different internal process for you to follow. At minimum, they will ask you for proof of admission to UWB and for a transfer out date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your school asks for the UWB School Code, it is: SEA214F00005000.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/new-f-1-students\/initial-i-20-request\">I-20 request<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens next<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After you complete the I-20 request on the <a href=\"https:\/\/iss.uwb.edu\/\">International Student Portal<\/a> and your previous school has transferred your SEVIS record, we will print you a Transfer Pending I-20.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If your SEVIS record is pending release, we must wait for your release date to create your new I-20.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can use this I-20 to travel or apply for a new F-1 visa (if necessary). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must complete the mandatory check-in with ISS when instructed (<strong>please continuously check your UW email at the start of quarter<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After you have completed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/new-f-1-students\/mandatory-iss-check-in\">check-in<\/a>, we will activate your SEVIS record and print you a Continued Attendance I-20 for UWB. <strong>Failure to complete check-in will result in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/current-f-1-students\/enrollment-requirements\/termination\">termination<\/a> of your SEVIS record.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What if you can&#8217;t attend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you can&#8217;t complete the I-20 request or otherwise know you can&#8217;t attend by the next quarter start date, you must leave the US and defer your admission for a future quarter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instead of completing the transfer request, we will help you request a new I-20 and apply to enter the US for a future quarter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students moving from one SEVIS approved school to another are referred to as a &#8220;transfer-in&#8221;.
