{"id":24225,"date":"2024-01-16T19:19:12","date_gmt":"2024-01-16T19:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/?page_id=24225"},"modified":"2026-07-30T17:26:56","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T17:26:56","slug":"initial-i-20-request","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/new-f-1-students\/initial-i-20-request","title":{"rendered":"Initial I-20 Request"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">International Student Portal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/iss.uwb.edu\/\">International Student Portal<\/a> is where you will make all F-1 related requests, including your request for an initial I-20. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are a new UWB student, you must first be invited to the portal. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>We will not invite you until your enrollment deposit is paid<\/strong>.<\/span> You should receive an invitation email to your UW email address within <strong>48 hours<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> If you are a continuing UWB student changing visa category, please contact ISS via email (uwbintl@uw.edu). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/new-f-1-students\/initial-i-20-request\/change-to-f1-status\">See instructions for changing to F-1 status here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are a returning UWB student, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/?page_id=24239\">see the returning student instructions<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Completing the request<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Upload all necessary documents. Ensure that all documents are clear and high quality. \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure your passport has not expired. If it has, please also upload additional documentation (like a receipt of renewal).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If uploading an I-94 for Change of Status, ensure your admit until date is in the future. For those who have extended their current status, you will find your updated I-94 at the bottom of your I-797A Approval Notice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/i-20-funding\">I-20 Funding page<\/a> for the requirements and guidelines regarding acceptable financial documentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check all personal and program information details in the request. Many fields on the request forms are freely editable. If something is not editable and showing incorrect information, please email uwbintl@uw.edu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">complete<\/span> foreign address and phone number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have submitted the request, an advisor will review it within our standard processing timeframe.
