UW Bothell: The Innovation Campus

Classroom settingThe University of Washington Bothell has been called the "innovation campus" and for good reason.  Innovation is at the core of all we do, from teaching to technology. Our undergraduates get involved in research projects with faculty members early in their academic careers.

Come visit our new Makerspace, which is housed in the beautiful Collaboratory in Discovery Hall.  What would you like to make?

Welcome back Fall 2017!

It was a fun and buzzy summer!  We hope you all caught yourselves a break.  This summer we were able to get some new equipment.  What's new?

  • We have a Button Press for all your co-curricular button making needs!
  • We also have a small scale vinyl cutter.  You can use this for many vinyl projects, but we recommend making stickers.  Want to deck out your car in new decals? This machine can cut stickers very precisely.
  • Also new is four Printrbot 3D printers.  They print over a cloud service so no SD card transfer is necessary.  These increase our capacity for printer use.

Come check it all out! And, in case you missed it, we also have sewing machines in the space.  Now, you can patch up ripped clothing and create new cloth pieces in a stitch.  We hope you have a rewarding Autumn quarter, and we'll see you in the Makerspace!

Try Something New - We can help!

Did you know that most people come to the Makerspace to 3D print?  This is a cool technology that becomes increasingly more relevant to jobs and production.

Did you know the UWB Makerspace has four different kinds of 3D printers? If you have tried one of our Flashforge Printers, ask a staff member if you can learn to use the Orion Delta, the Ultimaker 2, or the giant Wanhao printer now on the Makerspace floor.

Keep reading to learn about more tools the Makerspace has to offer.
