UW Bothell: The Innovation Campus

Classroom settingThe University of Washington Bothell has been called the "innovation campus" and for good reason.  Innovation is at the core of all we do, from teaching to technology. Our undergraduates get involved in research projects with faculty members early in their academic careers. 

Come visit our new Makerspace, which is housed in the beautiful Collaboratory in Discovery Hall.  What would you like to make?


Welcome back Fall 2017!

It was a fun and buzzy summer!  We hope you all caught yourselves a break.  This summer we were able to get some new equipment.  What's new?  

  • We have a Button Press for all your co-curricular button making needs!  
  • We also have a small scale vinyl cutter.  You can use this for many vinyl projects, but we recommend making stickers.  Want to deck out your car in new decals? This machine can cut stickers very precisely. 
  • Also new is four Printrbot 3D printers.  They print over a cloud service so no SD card transfer is necessary.  These increase our capacity for printer use.

Come check it all out! And, in case you missed it, we also have sewing machines in the space.  Now, you can patch up ripped clothing and create new cloth pieces in a stitch.  We hope you have a rewarding Autumn quarter, and we'll see you in the Makerspace!

Makerspace Update

The Makerspace is open and operating this summer every Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm. New students and staff with ID cards are welcome to come in and use the space during summer hours.

We have had funds approved and released for new equipment.  Look forward to some new equipment including new 3D printers, more computer work stations, a button press, a brake, and a larger laser cutter!

We have already recieved a vinyl cutter for sticker projects.  If you want to know more about this device, come to the Makerspace and check it out!

IEEE Paper Plate Speaker Event

Come to the Makerspace on Friday, November 18th for a fun maker event hosted by IEEE.  Learn how to turn household items into a working speaker! All levels of experience and inexperience can do it!  Session 1: 12-2pm,  Session2: 2-4pm.

Kickoff Today! SSFF Halloween Edition

The Halloween Shoddy Short Film Festival Kickoff is Today!  Come to the makerspace from 4-6pm to be a part of this creative showcase event.  

Film viewing will be week from today on Friday, October, 28th at 4pm on the top floor of ARC. All are welcome!
