{"id":803,"date":"2009-09-14T22:15:18","date_gmt":"2009-09-14T22:15:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/?p=803"},"modified":"2025-06-16T15:41:53","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T22:41:53","slug":"portfolio-capstone","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/ias\/undergraduate\/portfolio-capstone","title":{"rendered":"Portfolio Capstone"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-box-shadow is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-default has-h-3-font-size\">Policy changes for enrollment:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students admitted in <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Autumn 2024 or later<\/span><\/strong> are no longer obligated to complete the BIS 499 Portfolio Capstone requirement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students admitted in <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Autumn 2010 through Spring 2024<\/span><\/strong> are required to take BIS 499 as their graduation requirement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students admitted <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">prior to Autumn 2010<\/span><\/strong> are allowed to take BIS 499 <em>or<\/em> BIS 490 (or its equivalent) as their graduation requirement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-3-font-size\">About the course <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>BIS 499 Portfolio Capstone will focus on the completion of a student\u2019s final <a href=\"\/ias\/undergraduate\/ias-degree-portfolio\">learning\/professional portfolio<\/a>, picking up on the work they have completed in <a href=\"\/ias\/undergraduate\/bis300\">BIS 300 Interdisciplinary Inquiry<\/a> and throughout the program. It will allow students to step back from the learning they have done in individual courses, focusing on the connections among those courses and the links between the student\u2019s overall academic accomplishments and their diverse contexts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BIS 499 is a writing-intensive (W) course. Students must receive a minimum course grade of 2.5 in the portfolio capstone to graduate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All IAS students admitted between Autumn 2010 quarter and Spring 2024 quarter must take BIS 499 Portfolio Capstone within their final three quarters prior to graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Policy changes for enrollment: About the course BIS 499 Portfolio Capstone will focus on the completion of a student\u2019s final learning\/professional portfolio, picking up on the work they have completed in BIS 300 Interdisciplinary Inquiry and throughout the program.
