The following requirements must be met and actions completed in the quarter that you plan to graduate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apply for the Master’s Degree<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students must apply for the master’s degree by the relevant deadline in the quarter they plan to graduate, and should select the non-thesis option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Request the Master’s Degree<\/a>

All degree requirements must be met prior to the end of the final quarter of study if the application is to be approved. In addition, registration must be maintained for the entire quarter in which application for the degree is made. A student who does not complete all degree requirements by the last day of the quarter must be registered for the following quarter.

Note: the Graduate Registration Waiver Fee is not applicable to Policy Studies students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Archiving your Capstone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The UW Libraries ResearchWorks Archive<\/a> maintains an institutional repository of all Policy Studies capstone manuscripts completed in satisfaction of the Master of Arts in Policy Studies. This archive allows your capstone research to be available to future researchers and inform ongoing policy research and debate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once your capstone has been approved, please submit a clean, copy-edited copy in pdf format, together with a signed license that allows the library to preserve and share your research. You retain copyright to your research and the ability to publish it elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time Limit for Completion of Master’s Degree<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All work for the master’s degree must be completed within six years. This limit includes On-Leave quarters and transfer credits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nBPOLST 504 \u2013 Management and Program Evaluation (5 credits)
\nBPOLST 594 \u2013 Research Design (5 credits) or petitioned research alternative
\nBPOLST 515 \u2013 Capstone (8 credits)
\nBPOLST 509 – Proseminar (5 credits over 4 quarters)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
