Academic and other learning experiences enhance students\u2019 ability for project management and increases their skills in critical thinking, data analysis, research, communication, and decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-h-3-font-size\">PURPOSE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-highlight-paragraph-grey-background\">Environmental Studies&nbsp; students are passionate about understanding how humans interact with the natural world. Instead of spending more time on lab science work, they take classes in policy, law, philosophy, cultural studies, and economics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-h-3-font-size\">PRACTICE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-highlight-paragraph-grey-background\">Courses in the&nbsp;Environmental Studies&nbsp;major allow students to collect data, perform research, and use geospatial technology to analyze how individuals, organizations, and societies add to the complex challenges facing the sustainability of Earth\u2019s resources.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-h-3-font-size\">PROFESSION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-highlight-paragraph-grey-background\">Graduates in the Environmental Studies major communicate about urgent environmental issues facing our communities and help solve complex global problems in career roles such as education, advocacy, and consulting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"learning-objectives\"><a id=\"objectives\" name=\"objectives\"><\/a>Learning objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">The Environmental Studies curriculum advances the five core IAS <a href=\"\/ias\/undergraduate\/learning-objectives\">learning objectives<\/a>.
