VIRTUAL DROP-IN HOURS
Virtual drop-in advising times may be available without a scheduled appointment!
Academic Advisors offer virtual drop-in times at different points throughout the quarter. Some advisors offer them during peak advising periods (e.g. registration week), while others offer set drop-in hours each week.
Current UW Bothell students may use these instructions to find drop-in support using Navigate. Prospective students can visit the Office of Admissions website to request a meeting time.
- From the Navigate home page, click the blue "Schedule an Appointment" button.
In the Other Appointment Options area, select "View Drop-In Times". Choose the type of appointment you wish to drop in for, then select a reason for your meeting (for example, help with academic planning and registration).
Click “Find Available Time.”
Select your preferred meeting date from the calendar, then select the advising location for IAS.
Details about your advisor’s drop-in availability are listed on the next screen underneath their name. Be prepared to copy and paste the Zoom address for your drop-in visit. You may also receive a follow-up communication via email with information about next steps.
When you go to the Zoom link provided in Navigate, you will join a virtual waiting room. Your advisor will be notified that you are waiting but you cannot see how many other students are ahead of you in line. Your advisor will add you to the meeting as soon as possible in the order in which you joined the waiting room. Wait times vary and can be up to 15 minutes.
During busy advising times, you might see a button to “Drop-in Online” or “Check-in with first available” advisor. These buttons appear if drop-in hours are available at the exact time you are logged in to Navigate. Clicking on this button will notify your advisor that you want to connect. If your advisor is not available, you will see their drop-in schedule so you can visit again later.
If you click on the button to drop-in online or meet with the first available advisor, be prepared to receive a follow-up communication via email with information about next steps.
If you can no longer wait to meet with an advisor and wish to remove yourself from the drop-in queue, go to your Navigate home screen and click the Appointments button. Then, click on the "Dashboard" link at the top of the new window. Then, click on the blue "check-out" button next to the upcoming appointment. You will get a confirmation message indicating that you have been successfully checked out.
Advising & COVID-19
Appointment availability may be impacted by COVID-19 health concerns, even if the campus is not officially closed. IAS will make every possible effort to notify students in the event an advising appointment must be cancelled.
No academic advising services will occur if UW Bothell enacts emergency procedures to ensure the health and safety of our community. Students are encouraged to monitor class cancellations and campus closure alerts using the UW Alert system.
IAS students can receive advising support by sending an email to email@example.com. Please list your UW ID number and include a brief explanation of the help you are seeking. An advisor will respond within 2 - 3 business days.
