Student Council

The Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences Undergraduate Student Council (IASUSC) at the University of Washington Bothell advocates for all undergraduate students with declared majors or interests in the School of IAS. The council serves as the representative structure promoting the interests, needs, views, and wellbeing of all IAS students to the School Dean and Administration.

The IASUSC mission is to provide leadership to the School of IAS by building and sustaining a student- and learning-centered environment that enhances the engagement of IAS undergraduates. The council reinforces the School’s commitment to building an inclusive and just community of students, faculty, and staff; promotes camaraderie and respect among IAS students; and upholds the mission, values, and goals of IAS.

The IASUSC will promote and support the development of the School of IAS and the welfare of its students by working closely with UW Bothell and IAS administrators, consulting regularly with IAS students, and involving as many stakeholders as possible into IASUSC activities.

Objectives of the IASUSC include:

  • Representing the views of the IAS undergraduate student body to the University and School of IAS administration;

  • Promoting good and open communications within the School;

  • Supporting the educational development and progress of IAS undergraduate students;

  • Assisting with the recruitment and mentoring of new IAS students;

  • Contributing to the development of School policy;

  • Supporting School curricular, extra-curricular, and alumni activities;

  • Establishing and sustaining collaborative partnerships with councils or student leaders in other UW Bothell programs and organizations.
