Graduate Certificate in Public Scholarship comes home to IAS

November 13, 2014 - The UW graduate Certificate in Public Scholarship is now a three-way partnership between the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington Bothell, the UW Graduate School, and the Simpson Center for the Humanities. Developed through the agency of the Simpson Center, the Certificate draws heavily on the portfolio pedagogy developed by IAS and the M.A. in Cultural Studies. It is designed to enable UW doctoral and master's degree students to integrate their intellectual, political, and professional interests through engagement with diverse publics. Miriam Bartha will continue to co-direct the Certificate with IAS dean Bruce Burgett, and to serve as the Certificate’s primary program advisor for prospective and enrolled graduate fellows. Fifteen IAS faculty members are affiliated with the Certificate as actual or potential practicum or portfolio advisors.
