Robertson Allen publishes in the Journal of Gaming and Virtual Worlds

September 24, 2014 - IAS faculty member Robertson Allen published an interview in the Journal of Gaming and Virtual Worlds in an issue focusing on Games, Gamification, and Labor Politics. The interviewee is Colonel Casey Wardynski, the long-time director of “America's Army,” the official U.S. Army video game. Allen returned in this fall to UW Bothell, following a six month research fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Study on Media Cultures of Computer Simulation at Leuphana University, Germany, where he completed a book on the subject of military gaming and began a new ethnographic project focusing on multinational companies that contract military simulation technologies to global state militaries, including those in the United States.
