Rebecca Brown’s creative work is the subject of scholarly book

February 6, 2014 - IAS faculty member Rebecca Brown and her creative work is the focus of a recently-released scholarly book by Lies Xhonneux.  Entitled Rebecca Brown: Literary Subversions of Homonormalization, the study calls Brown “the great secret of American letters” and approaches her diverse body of work – essays, short stories, a modern bestiary, a fictionalized autobiography, a memoir in the guise of a medical dictionary, a libretto for a dance opera, a play, and various kinds of fantasy – through an analysis of her critical appropriations of classic psychoanalytic thinking, theories on social identity-construction, and queer understandings of kinship structures.
