Jimena Huamani (Community Psychology and Society, Ethics & Human Behavior, ’17) has joined the UW Bothell Organizational Excellence and Human Resources (OE/HR) as the Human Resources Assistant. Paul Johnson (M.A. in Cultural Studies, ’11) has earned a master’s degree in Project Management from Georgetown University (’19). Jin-Kyu Jung leads study abroad trip to South Korea and establishes ties with local institutions

IAS faculty member Jin-Kyu Jung recently returned from South Korea with 9 UW students from the Bothell and Seattle campuses. This trip was part of an Early-Fall Student Abroad program, “Mapping Communities in the Smart City,” co-led with Gunwha Oh (affiliate faculty in IAS and lecturer in the Deptartment of Geography).

Jin-Kyu Jung co-authors “Qualitative GIS and Spatial Research”

IAS faculty member Jin-Kyu Jung co-authored a flagship chapter with Sarah Elwood, “Qualitative GIS and Spatial Research.” The chapter, which appears in SAGE Research Methods Foundations (SRMF), presents a critical review of qualitative GIS as a mixed methods framework for social and spatial research. It reflects an earlier wave of qualitative approaches in the 2000s implementing qualitative forms of representation or analysis into GIS-based research.
