Master of Arts in Cultural Studies student Suzanne M. Cohen presented her research in a lightning talk entitled ‘Nontraditional Casting: Transgressive or Transcendent?’ as part of a March 5th Scholar’s Studio  event on the theme of “Play.” 

IAS faculty member Amaranth Borsuk had her video collaboration with Andy Fitch, an extension of their book As We Know (Subito, 2014) published on the video poetry website PoetrySeen and subsequently picked up in Harriet, the official blog of the Poetry Foundation.

IAS faculty member Dan Berger delivered a series of lectures on the east coast related to his book, Captive Nation.  Berger gave a lecture entitled "Prisons, State Violence, and the Organizing Tradition" at Dickinson College.  More than 100 students and faculty attended the talk, which was hosted by the Clarke Forum for Contemporary Issues and the Popal Shaw Center for Race and Ethnicity. 

UWave Radio collaborated in a regional celebration of World Radio Day on February 13th titled "Celebrate Radio: The Big Power of Local New Low Power FM Radio Stations." The free event took place at the Seattle Public Library Downtown Branch, and brought together a cohort of regional non-profit and educational groups that will start broadcasting on the FM dial over the next 10 months.

T. Andrew Wahl  self-published his first newspaper, The Shooting Star, at the tender age of 5. He’d planned to be a print journalist for his entire career – but the Internet had other ideas.
