2025 Cohort<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"certification\">Teacher Certification Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To be recommended for elementary teacher certification in Washington state, students must also complete certification requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Successfully complete student teaching internship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pass the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nestest.com\/\">NES I and II Elementary Education<\/a> exams or receive an approved NES Petition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pass the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.west.nesinc.com\/TestView.aspx?f=HTML_FRAG\/WA051_TestPage.html\">WEST-E English Language Learner<\/a>&nbsp;exam or the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.west.nesinc.com\/TestView.aspx?f=HTML_FRAG\/WA070_TestPage.html\">WEST-E Special Education exam<\/a>, or receive an approved WEST-E Petition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete and submit a Professional Growth Plan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will receive support and guidance on all certification requirements from academic advisors, field placement coordinators, and field instructors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"certification\">Information for International Students<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Elementary Education Option requires that students complete a student teaching practicum, along with a practicum in an English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classroom OR a practicum in a Special Education classroom. International students with a visa, other than F-1 visa holders, should consult an immigration attorney to determine their eligibility for completing these required practica. F-1 visa holders will need to plan and apply for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/f-1-benefits\/practical-training\/curricular-practical-training\">Curricular Practical Training (CPT)<\/a>\u00a0prior to beginning these required practica. If you have any questions, please contact the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/international-student-services\/\">International Student Services (ISS)<\/a>\u00a0office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"academic-breadth\">Elementary Education Endorsement Academic Breadth Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As outlined by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pesb.wa.gov\/preparation-programs\/endorsement-competencies\/elementary-education\/\">State of Washington Professional Educator Standards Board<\/a>, Washington state elementary school teachers must be certified to teach&nbsp;<em>and<\/em>&nbsp;must hold an elementary education endorsement. To be eligible for the elementary endorsement, students must complete college-level coursework which demonstrates their knowledge and understanding of the subject areas&nbsp;elementary school teachers cover in their classrooms: Social Studies, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"academic-breadth-subject-area\">Elementary Education Academic Breadth Subject Areas &amp;
