{"id":18110,"date":"2020-08-12T16:54:01","date_gmt":"2020-08-12T16:54:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/?p=18110"},"modified":"2025-05-14T10:01:53","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T17:01:53","slug":"educator-professional-development","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/education\/educator-professional-development","title":{"rendered":"Professional Development"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Continue&nbsp;the learning journey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The School&nbsp;of Educational Studies not only prepares new teachers to successfully lead their classrooms, but supports established educators along their path&nbsp;toward professional and personal growth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We ofter several professional development options, all rooted in the standards of equity and social justice that shape&nbsp;the Schools mission, vision, and values.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Equity-Centered School Leadership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For our students to&nbsp;thrive, educators must not only recognize a school&#8217;s culturally diverse context,&nbsp;but to continually break the embedded barriers of inequity built into many educational systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The School of Educational Studies places equity-driven instruction and leadership at the core of its mission and vision.&nbsp; SES is pleased to offer several professional development programs centered on increasing student success through adopting standards of instructional leadership based on equity and social justice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enhancing Capacity for Special Education Leadership (ECSEL)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ECSEL prepares experienced teacher-leaders interested in administering special education programs.&nbsp; This non-degree option provides an intensive 2-year, equity leadership-focused&nbsp;program, leading to the Washington State Residency Program Administrator Certification.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program highlights:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cohort-based with small faculty-to-candidate ration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grant funded through Washington State OSPI; candidates pay approximately $500\/year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Classes meet once per month on Saturday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-dark-purple-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/education\/educator-professional-development\/ecsel\">Learn more about ECSEL<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">M.Ed. with Leadership Development for Educators (LEDE) Concentration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Earn a Principal or Program Administrator certification with an optional M.Ed. degree<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">Earn your Residency Principal or Program administrator certificate and learn from and alongside practitioner faculty with extensive experience in schools and districts across rural, suburban, urban, international, and independent school contexts, all with a strong commitment to educational justice and advocacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Leadership Development for Educators (LEDE) concentration at the University of Washington Bothell is designed for educators seeking the Residency Principal or Program Administrator certificate from the state of Washington.
