The Road to Elementary Teacher Certification for First Year Students

Step 1

Gain admission to
UW Bothell as a
first year student.

Visit the UW Bothell
Office of Admissions.

Step 2

Meet with an advisor
to establish an academic plan.

Visit the Pre-Major
Advising Office.

Step 3

Complete B WRIT 134 & 45 college-level credits; apply to the Educational Studies major.

Step 4

Complete Academic Breadth, Core & Foundational Courses along with all cert admission requirements; apply to add Certification Option (only in Autumn Quarter).

Apply to the Elementary
Education Option.

Step 5

Begin cohorted Method courses along with first course
in Tribal Sovereignty
(Spring Quarter only).

See all required courses.

Step 6

Continue Method courses
and add student teaching starting in August through
the end of Autumn Quarter
and into Winter Quarter.

Step 7

Complete supporting endorsement coursework
along with all degree and certification requirements
(Winter & Spring Quarters).

The Road to Elementary Teacher Certification for Transfer Students

Step 1

Gain admission to
UW Bothell as a Transfer Student with direct entry to the Educational Studies major.

Visit the UW Bothell
Office of Admissions.

Step 2

Meet with an advisor in the School of Educational Studies
to establish an academic plan.

Visit our
Advising Office.

Step 3

Complete Academic Breadth, Core & Foundational Courses along with all cert admission requirements.

Apply to add Certification Option (only in Autumn Quarter).
