UW Bothell First Year & Pre-Major Students

If you are currently enrolled at the University of Washington Bothell as a First Year & Pre-Major student, you should meet with your Pre-Major advisor to complete your application for admission to any School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences major. Please review the major planning worksheet below for admission requirements and prerequisites. UW Bothell students can be accepted into the program in their second year. Transfer students with over 36 credits can be accepted into the major upon acceptance to UW Bothell. For admission to the major, students must have completed at least 25 credits including the following:

  • 5 Credits of Composition (BWRIT 134 or equivalent)
  • 5 Credits of Calculus (STMATH 124 or equivalent)
  • 10 Credits of Earth System Science Courses: Students can apply to the major with 5 cr (until Autumn 2021) and complete 5cr later when admitted. Example courses include “Introduction to Astronomy, Introduction to Climate Science, Introduction to Geology, Introduction to Oceanography, Environmental Geography, or Introduction to Environmental Issues.
  • General Chemistry I or Physics I (BCHEM 143 & 144, CHEM 142, BPHYS 114 &117, BPHYS 121 & 117 or equivalent)

Transfer Students

If you are currently enrolled or have previously been enrolled at a community college or university, and are not currently taking courses from UW Bothell, please review the information below. Prospective transfer students should contact the Office of Admissions for transfer admissions advising.
