Graduate Certificate Application Process

The Graduate Certificate in Software Design & Development (GCSDD) admits for the Autumn Quarter only. The application deadline is July 1. All application materials must be received by the application deadline.

To apply for the Graduate Certificate in Software Design & Development, please complete the following steps:

  1. Visit the UW Grad School Application website and click on ‘Create a New Applicant Profile’ to begin your application process:

    • Complete the corresponding applicant profile form, and continue to the Graduate School Application.
    • In “Step 1” of the Application, choose "Graduate Non-Matriculated."
    • In “Step 2” of the Application, choose "Computing & Software Systems - Bothell (MS in Comp Sci and Software Eng)" as the program.
  3. Upload your official transcripts showing: completion of a Bachelor’s degree, Calculus I, and Programming I and II.*
     
  4. Upload a current Resume showing detailed relevant work experience and any information relevant to the admission prerequisites.
     
  5. Upload a Personal Statement detailing your object-oriented programming knowledge and experience; why the Graduate Certificate in Software Design & Development is of interest to you; and how the GCSDD will support your scholarly and career goals.


*Applicants who have not taken formal programming courses but desire to apply should submit source code from the programming self-assessment materials.

The Graduate Certificate in Software Design and Development does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements for students studying in the United States on an F1 Visa.  There may be some exceptions to this restriction; please contact the Center for International Education at uwbintl@uw.edu for further information.
