GCSDD alumna Emily HsuMEET EMILY HSU, a graduate from the Graduate Certificate in Software Design & Development ('17) and Master of Science in Computer Science & Software Engineering ('20). Emily worked in biotech for five years after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, and had the desire to try something newswitch careers. Wanting to become a software engineer, Emily found that the graduate certificate would teach her the fundamental skills needed to pursue this new career. Emily went on to graduate from our Master of Science in Computer Science & Software Engineering and now works as a software engineer at T-Mobile. Read Emily’s Q&A interview.

Sijie Chen alumaMEET SIJIE CHEN, a graduate from the Graduate Certificate in Software Design & Development ('17). We had the opportunity to ask Sijie why she chose the GCSDD and what she thought about her experiences as a student in the program. Sijie is an international student who completed the graduate certificate while finishing a master’s program at UW Seattle. Kelsey StemmMEET KELSEY STEMM, a graduate from the Graduate Certificate in Software Design & Development (‘16). Kelsey was looking to make a career pivot from human embryology to software engineering when she discovered the GCSDD was a perfect fit. The variety of students in the program enhanced her student experience, bringing in different perspectives and creating a supportive learning environment. Upon graduation, Kelsey went on to work at Microsoft at as software engineer and says she would not have got to where she is without this program. Read Kelsey’s Q&A interview.

We had the opportunity to ask Rebecca why she chose the GCSDD and what she thought about her experiences as a student in the program. Rebecca did the graduate certificate program to enhance her undergraduate education, opening up possibilities for entry into the software industry. Rebecca is now a Security Engineer at StitchFix. Aaron Hitchcock alumnusMEET AARON HITCHCOCK, an alumnus of the Graduate Certificate in Software Design & Development (‘15), and the Master of Science in Computer Science & Software Engineering (‘18). Being a teacher, Aaron was encouraged to pursue further education, but he didn’t want to do a teaching master’s program.
