Undergraduate Student Essay Contest

The University of Washington Bothell and the Washington Consortium for the Liberal Arts invite students to enter the Undergraduate Essay Contest. 

The Rules
In an effort to understand the diverse ways that a liberal arts background has effectively prepared our citizens, we invite undergraduate students to participate in an essay contest.
Essays submited should:

  • Describe a specific incident in which your liberal arts education has been valuable to you
  • Connect this incident with one or two larger truths about being liberally educated
  • Demonstrate writing techniques consistent with a successful liberal arts education.

Length: 500 words max. Submisson Deadline April 15, 2013

  1. $1,000 for 1st place
  2. $750 for 2nd place

  • May 10th: priority deadline for those who have all prerequisites complete by the end of Winter quarter
  • July 12th: deadline for those with prerequisites in progress Spring quarter

Applied Computing and Computer Science and Software Engineering majors:

  • May 1st: priority deadline for those who have all prerequisites complete by the end of Winter quarter
  • July 1st: deadline for those with prerequisites in progress Spring or Summer quarters

  • Biology: Can apply with completion of BIO 200. Rolling admissions.
  • Climate Science and Policy: Priority deadline July 19

Announcing the Second Annual UW Test Cabaret! 

 The Second Annual "A Cabaret: Reflections on HIV Testing" is a spectacular FREE musical event for UW TEST, the UW Medical Student-run Outreach HIV Testing Program!

Featuring guests performers from the Seattle Men's Chorus, King County Public Health, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, UW School of Medicine, and artists throughout Seattle!

The show contains songs and scenes, each a reflection on the multitude of experiences in HIV testing from love to loss to resilience to hope.

Become an International Student Mentor

The International Student Mentor Program helps ease the adjustment process of incoming international students and encourages their successful academic and social transition into the UW Bothell community. The program pairs new international students with a current UWB international or domestic student mentor who is responsible for providing the new students with information and support, connecting them with campus resources, and helping them engage through various social activities and events.

Applications are due by March 11th

Mentors must:

  • Have a 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Have been a student at UW Bothell for at least two quarters
  • Commit to maintain regular contact with mentee(s) and attend all check-in meetings and ISM Program events

Interactive Media Design (IMD): New State-Supported Tuition Rate 

UW Bothell now offers the Interactive Media Design (IMD) program under the state-supported tuition and fee scale. This means that the cost of attendance for this degree does not require higher fee-based tuition costs. My name is Keiko Miyamoto, the new IMD advisor/recruiter.
