We are so excited to announce the launch of our new 3D Printed Assistive Technology Program in the coming week. This unique program offers free 3D printed tools designed to support everyday tasks and increase access to assistive technology. The program grew from a simple idea: practical tools should be accessible to the people who need them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building the program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are grateful to be leveraging the Washington Assistive Technology Act Program<\/a> (WATAP) and the work they are doing. With their support we are excited launch our own 3D printed assistive technology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CoSEE interns reviewed assistive technologies available through WATAP and Makers Making Change<\/a>, organizations dedicated to improving access and independence for people with disabilities. From there, the team identified a set of devices that could be offered through CoSEE’s 3D printing program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of these tools address small but persistent challenges. A simple adaptation can make a task easier, safer, or more comfortable, but those solutions are not always easy to find or afford. By providing these items at no cost, CoSEE aims to reduce barriers and connect community members with tools that support their daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After selecting seven devices for the initial launch, interns and staff spent months testing designs, refining processes, and creating resources to support the program. Their work laid the foundation for a service that is now ready to be shared with the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program was also influenced by Iem’s background as a special education teacher and her work developing CoSEE’s Adaptive Library. The library includes accessible, interactive educational materials designed for learners with a wide range of abilities and learning styles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of the books feature sensory elements, vocabulary icons, and other accessibility supports that help make STEAM content more engaging and inclusive. That work reinforced a core principle behind the new assistive technology program: access to the right tools can make a meaningful difference in daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both initiatives reflect CoSEE’s ongoing effort to create resources that are accessible, practical, and available at no cost to the communities it serves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
