Most paid UW employees already receive a fully subsidized U-PASS as part of their employment benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U-PASS is a bus pass and more. Loaded right onto the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/husky-card\">Husky Card<\/a>, the U-PASS provides members with unlimited rides on regional buses, commuter trains, light rail and water taxis, as well as full fare coverage on vanpools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-default has-purple-300-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-2-font-size wp-elements-16602a6eb2c0e568009c517d24332808\">Benefits and Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-200-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-3-font-size wp-elements-a57b1154ab04405160573d2eecfa584a\">Benefits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your U-PASS gives you these benefits with a tap of your Husky Card:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Full fare coverage on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kingcounty.gov\/depts\/transportation\/metro.aspx\">King County Metro Transit<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.communitytransit.org\/\">Community Transit<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.piercetransit.org\/\">Pierce Transit<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kitsaptransit.com\/\">Kitsap Transit<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/everetttransit.org\/\">Everett Transit<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.soundtransit.org\/\">Sound Transit<\/a>, which includes regional buses, Link light rail and Sounder commuter train service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full fare coverage on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kingcounty.gov\/en\/dept\/metro\/travel-options\/water-taxi\">King County Water Taxis<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kitsaptransit.com\/service\/category\/fast-ferry\">Kitsap Fast Ferries<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full fare coverage on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattle.gov\/transportation\/getting-around\/transit\/streetcar\">Seattle Streetcar<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattlemonorail.com\/ride-with-us\/\">Seattle Monorail<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full fare coverage on King County Metro&#8217;s on-demand ride service&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kingcounty.gov\/en\/dept\/metro\/travel-options\/metro-flex\">Metro Flex<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full fare coverage on regional paratransit services for eligible members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/transportation.uw.edu\/getting-here\/transit\/u-pass#emergency-ride-home\">Emergency Ride Home program&nbsp;<\/a>(faculty and staff only)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The U-PASS does not cover travel on Washington State Ferries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-200-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-3-font-size wp-elements-f35dfbdd71feaf5ae6d97396534544f7\">Exclusions:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ferry service &#8211; riders can purchase an&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.orcacard.com\/\"><strong>ORCA card<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/wsdot.wa.gov\/ferries\/wave2go\/\"><strong>WaveToGo card<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;for fare payment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intercity Transit (Thurston County) is not in the ORCA network, but most of their services are currently free.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.intercitytransit.com\/plan-your-trip\/zero-fare\">Read more about their Zero Fare program here.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The U-PASS function on your Husky Card does not have \u201cElectronic Purse\u201d&nbsp;capabilities.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-300-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-2-font-size wp-elements-374ac1cb04fe3f35ff0b9f1847da0228\">Eligibility &amp; Activation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-highlight-paragraph-grey-background has-h-3-font-size\">U-PASS for Students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-200-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-3-font-size wp-elements-a643c49bf0c1c933c91927da7cfd8a3b\">Student Eligibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In most cases, your tuition statement includes a mandatory U-PASS fee. If you pay the fee, you are eligible for U-PASS benefits which should automatically activate on your Husky ID Card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the U-PASS fee is not included in your tuition, you may purchase a temporary U-PASS card. These cards cost $127 and are valid for 3 calendar months. For more information, please see the section titled \u201c<strong>Purchase a 3-month Temp U-PASS Card.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default has-gold-200-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-4-font-size wp-elements-5f8de8b6f3ff4d2008f6a834b837e37f\"><strong>Activation &amp; Maintaining Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s no need to sign up or activate your benefits &#8211; they will start and stop working automatically according to the calendar below <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/academic-calendar\/u-pass-activation-dates-payment-due-dates-2025-2026\">UPASS Activation Dates<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-gold-200-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-4-font-size wp-elements-0052dec6b25631176101fc8890626f24\"><strong>Replacement Husky Card<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your Husky Card is lost, stolen or damaged, your U-PASS will be electronically transferred to your replacement Husky Card. Your U-PASS will be available for use on transit 12 to 24 hours after your replacement Husky Card is issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-highlight-paragraph-grey-background has-h-3-font-size\">TEMP U-PASS Card for Students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default has-gold-200-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-4-font-size wp-elements-6a3b0341bbcf59001e397d727435cbf1\"><strong>Purchase a 3-month Temp U-PASS Card<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who are enrolled in courses that do not include the U-PASS fee in their tuition are eligible to purchase a Temp U-PASS for $127 per quarter. To obtain a temporary U-PASS, Temp\/Hourly employees should request their supervisor to complete the designated <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/FVWwKSDns2VmFEKF6\">online form<\/a> on their behalf. Students may submit the same <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/FVWwKSDns2VmFEKF6\">online form<\/a> directly. After submitting the form, both Temp\/Hourly employees and students must wait 48 hours before purchasing their temporary U-PASS at the Cashier&#8217;s Office in Husky Hall. To complete the purchase, please contact the Cashier&#8217;s Office to schedule an appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-gold-200-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-4-font-size wp-elements-1fe1792e375f0262e2317ec95af82474\"><strong>Temp U-PASS Valid Dates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These temporary cards have predetermined start and end dates, which do not follow the academic quarter schedule. The ORCA card has several options for reduced fares for qualified riders!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Children age 5 and younger ride free with a paying adult passenger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Riders ages 6 &#8211; 18 ride free (show your school ID or get a <a href=\"https:\/\/info.myorca.com\/using-orca\/ways-to-save\/youth\/\">Youth ORCA card<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low-income households can get reduced fares with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/info.myorca.com\/LIFT\/\">ORCA Lift<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Riders age 65 and over, as well as qualified disabled and Medicare customers, can get reduced fares with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/info.myorca.com\/senior\/\">Regional Reduced Fare Permit (RRFP)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Residents of King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties who are at or below 80% of the federal poverty level and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingcounty.gov\/subsidizedannualpass\">are enrolled in one of six state benefit programs<\/a>&nbsp;can obtain a subsidized annual pass valid for travel on King County Metro and Sound Transit services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-highlight-paragraph-grey-background has-h-3-font-size\">U-PASS for Staff &amp; Faculty<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-3-font-size\">Employee Eligibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As of July 1, 2022, all paid University of Washington employees receive a fully subsidized U-PASS as part of their employment benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This does not include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>student hourly employees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>academic student employees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>unpaid academics or affiliates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>other appointees who are not paid<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default has-gold-200-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-4-font-size wp-elements-5ec79bb0238658f59757bf75d73bc301\"><strong>Activation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s no need to sign up or activate your benefits &#8211; they will start working automatically. Your U-PASS will be available for use on transit 12 to 24 hours after your replacement Husky Card is printed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-gold-200-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-4-font-size wp-elements-37d05a601b1b65dc16ec15ffabd208ce\"><strong>Using your U-PASS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just tap your Husky Card on an ORCA card reader (found at the front of buses or mounted on a wall or pole at Link, Sounder or Swift stations) to use your U-PASS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>RapidRide stations: tap on the ORCA reader (don&#8217;t forget to wait for the green light) at the station&nbsp;OR&nbsp;on the bus as you enter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Buses:&nbsp;tap on the ORCA reader when you board the bus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rail (Link &amp; Sounder):&nbsp;tap the ORCA reader once before entering the train<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-300-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-2-font-size wp-elements-7d95d7d29fb3e0ab308ef31fc4cb71b4\">Terms of use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>U-PASS members are expected to review the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/transportation.uw.edu\/policies#u-pass-terms-of-use\">U-PASS terms of use<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your U-PASS is for your personal transportation only. It is non-transferable, meaning you may not give or sell your Husky Card or your U-PASS to any other person. Bus drivers and fare inspectors can confiscate a Husky Card that does not belong to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All U-PASS members are bound by the U-PASS policy as stated in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/policy.uw.edu\/directory\/aps\/section-50-services\/aps-53-4-the-u-pass-program\/\">Administrative Policy Statement 53.4<\/a>. Misuse of the U-PASS is subject to sanctions and may subject the parties to possible action under the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/wac\/default.aspx?cite=478-124\">General Conduct Code<\/a>&nbsp;(Chapter 478\u2013124 WAC) or the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/cssc\/for-students\/student-code-of-conduct\/\">Student Conduct Code<\/a>&nbsp;(Chapter 478\u2013121 WAC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-300-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-2-font-size wp-elements-70a851eafe508b60873f866ceaec86da\">Troubleshooting<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you tap your U-PASS on an ORCA card reader and you don&#8217;t get a happy beep and green light, try again, making sure to tap your card on the ORCA logo at the center of the card reader and hold it there for several seconds. Also make sure you separate your Husky Card from any other cards you may have that include RFID technology (ie: UWMC badge).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you still do not get a positive response, log into your MyUW account with your phone and click on the Accounts tab. You can show that your U-PASS membership is current\/active and use it as a &#8220;flash pass&#8221; for the driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, contact Commuter Services at 425-352-3369 or&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:ucommute@uw.edu\">uwbpark@uw.edu<\/a>&nbsp;as soon as you are able to discuss your U-PASS issues. Please provide the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your name and UW employee or student ID number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Name of the transit agency you were taking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The route number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Destination<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The time you boarded the bus or train<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bus vehicle number (found inside the bus above the bus windshield, as well as on the sides, front and rear of the bus)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Keep your Husky Card healthy:<\/strong>&nbsp;Your Husky Card contains an antenna. If you cut, scratch, bend, or punch a hole in the card, you will damage the antenna, and your card will not function properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-300-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-2-font-size wp-elements-9ca8bade54c12ce3c5b1d2c856a39fbd\">Lost or stolen cards<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-highlight-paragraph-grey-background has-purple-300-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-3-font-size wp-elements-c6d4ac9678ea3a02011d887eccf2c797\"><strong>Employees<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For faculty\/staff on payroll deduction, if you choose not to reactivate your U-PASS on your new Husky Card, report the loss and request payroll deduction cancellation immediately via email at <a href=\"mailto:uwbpark@uw.edu\">uwbpark@uw.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-highlight-paragraph-grey-background has-h-3-font-size\"><strong>Students<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You must inform the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/hfs.uw.edu\/Husky-Card-Services\">Husky Card Office<\/a>&nbsp;at once if you believe your Husky Card has been lost or stolen. The best way to report a lost or stolen Husky Card is through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/hfs.uw.edu\/OLCO\/\">Husky Card Online Office<\/a>, where you can suspend activity on your Husky Card Account until the Husky Card is found or replaced. You may also contact the Husky Card Office at 206-543-7222 or by email at&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:huskycrd@uw.edu\">huskycrd@uw.edu<\/a>. There is a $25 replacement fee for your Husky Card, but no additional fee to replace the U-PASS. Once the Husky Card Office issues a new card, your U-PASS will be transferred electronically and will be available for use 12 to 24 hours after card replacement.<br>To replace a Temp Pass, please email <a href=\"mailto:uwbpark@uw.edu\">uwbpark@uw.edu<\/a> for options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-300-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-2-font-size wp-elements-b8b940cf1a50236b3aded1d5c4b40c10\"><strong>Understanding U-PASS and ORCA<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>ORCA is the fare payment system for Puget Sound area transit systems. When you use your U-PASS, the smart chip inside your Husky Card interacts with the ORCA system. So while you can use your Husky Card in many similar ways to a standard ORCA card, it&#8217;s important to know how they are different as well:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You cannot register your Husky Card with the ORCA system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You cannot load funds into an ORCA E-Purse using your Husky Card.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You could technically load a PugetPass or Washington State Ferries pass onto a Husky Card, but we don&#8217;t advise it as the pass will be lost if your card is lost, stolen or damaged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To purchase a standard ORCA Card and take advantage of the E-purse, card registration, autoload or other ORCA program features, please go to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myorca.com\/\">ORCA website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-300-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c4292be4f5047619d817fd3031434b67\">Service to UW Bothell \/ Cascadia College<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ten transit routes serve the UW Bothell and Cascadia College campus making over 400 stops each week day. Timetables are available at campus Transportation Centers in buildings UW1, UW2, the Library, and CC1. Most transit routes serving the campus operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays.
