Global Engagement

Global Close to Home

Innovative, interdisciplinary courses that incorporate a global perspective can be found across the UW Bothell curriculum. Many connect students with organizations in the Seattle area that focus on global issues or serve an international population. The Global Close to Home map is a resource tool for those interested in volunteering or interning with a glocal organization.

Community-Engaged Study Abroad

Studying abroad can offer faculty and students opportunities to engage with local communities around the world, often building on existing faculty connections or working through partners such as Omprakash. Doing so requires careful preparation and analysis of the potential impacts of engagement.

Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)

Without having to travel abroad, students deepen their global engagement in UW classes through virtual collaboration with international partners. Using various communication technologies, students complete shared assignments and projects, with instructors from each country co-teaching and managing coursework. The COIL Fellows program is designed to support UW faculty to develop COIL courses.
