OPT Employment Update Form 

Students on OPT are only allowed 90 days total of unemployment. It is critical that you report to the Center for International Education office where you are working, and any time there is a change in your employment or contact information (such as home address, phone number or email). By completing this online form, CIE office will update your record with immigration so that they know you are working. Immigration will terminate a student's I-20 once 90 days of unemployment is accumulated.

As of January 2017, please consult with CIE office as work authorization process and benefits may change.

OPT is a type of post-graduation employment authorization that a F-1 student can apply for to USCIS. Students must apply during their graduation (final) quarter, and CIE recommends that you apply at the start of your graduation quarter as it takes USCIS 90-days to process an OPT application.
