Center for Information Assurance & Cybersecurity
CIAC is the University of Washington's federally designated center of academic excellence in cybersecurity education and research.
CIAC works across the university to prepare students for careers protecting computer systems from accidents, hackers, viruses and other security threats.
Cybersecurity professionals come from a variety of backgrounds. Through CIAC, students work with a systems-level view of securing networks and data. The program integrates material from technology, business operations, policy, communications, psychology, and most importantly - problem solving.
Research is conducted across multiple departments at the University of Washington and with partnering institutions to create an interdisciplinary knowledge-network. Students have the opportunity to work with nationally known researchers or to conduct their own research projects.
We are committed to:
- Preparing cybersecurity professionals in the most efficient way possible
- Providing students with Center for National Security Studies Certification.
- Promoting collaboration: regional, national and international
- Producing multidisciplinary education and research
The world economy and global industries now rely on a digital infrastructure which is increasingly vulnerable to hackers and cyber thieves.
CIAC collaborates closely with private industry, government agencies, and other institutions in the design and delivery of its programs in research and education.
With CIAC, the University of Washington is training the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
