Follow-up on a campus incident

I wanted to follow-up on an incident reported to us on Nov. 15 involving several Muslim women students who were allegedly approached by several men who then demanded that the women remove their hijabs. I asked our Campus Safety Director, Cham Kao, to investigate these serious allegations immediately. In the past two weeks, Cham worked to follow up on the allegations. To date, he has not been able to verify the incident. The fears raised by this incident are real, and I remain committed to create a safe campus for all.

Community gathering and safety discussion

Like all of you, I am heartbroken from the tragic events affecting our colleagues at North Seattle College and Umpqua Community College. I invite the entire campus community to a gathering on Monday, October 5, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the North Creek Events Center to discuss the most recent events and any concerns.
