Audit Internship with US Department Of Health & Human Services


As an intern, you will have an opportunity to work as an audit team member, performing a variety of tasks to obtain experience in the practical application of accounting and auditing principles, and assisting in audits of the HHS programs. You will have the opportunity to be trained on key audit skills (e.g., develop audit programs, collect and analyze evidence, summarize audit results, conduct conferences, and prepare audit reports). You will also have the opportunity to learn to make recommendations to improve accounting systems, strengthen internal controls, and change legislation impacting HHS programs. The internship provides students enrolled in educational institutions with paid opportunities to work in federal agencies, gain valuable on-the-job experience and explore careers while in school.



  • U.S. citizenship and at least 18 years old
  • Currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment on a full or half-time basis in a college or university
  • Completed at least 2 years of full-time education above high school level (equivalent to 60 semester units)
  • Must be in good standing with your academic institution
  • Completed 12 semester units of accounting, auditing, or business law (up to 6 semester units may be from business law)
  • Must be pursuing a degree or certification in accounting or a related field
  • Subject to Background Investigation
