Position Details

  • Pay rate: $15.45/hr
  • Employment period: may be renewed quarterly
  • Hours per week: approximately 8 hours per week


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute workshops, training videos, and events
  • Maintain the space and equipment, make improvements
  • Create standard operating procedures
  • Staff the space during drop-in hours
  • Give safety orientations and equipment-specific training
  • Others as duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current UW Bothell Student enrolled in 6 or more undergraduate credits for the quarter
  • Contribute professionally and respectfully to our diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Familiar with a variety of tools and shop equipment; experienced as a user of a fabrication or machine shop
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality required
  • Ability to learn quickly and multitask
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team member


Desired skills

Interest in design and the maker movement/community; some IT/web skills; marketing/outreach; customer service/retail experience; enjoy working with hands; involvement in a making/crafting-oriented student organization; experience with one or more of the following:

  • intermediate sewing experiences
  • electronics / embedded design
  • woodshop experience
  • machining
  • social media, marketing, events experience
