Eastside Audubon is looking for a passionate individual who wants to learn the business side of nonprofit management. The successful candidate will help our organization collect data on volunteers, members, and programs; help convert that data into information; turn that information into insight; and insight into business decisions that will grow our organization, determine our priorities, and set program goals. You can greatly contribute to the sustainability of the organization in this role.


In this position, you will learn to

  • Interpret data and analyze results
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain a database
  • Use data to help direct business decisions
  • Research best practices for member retention, donor retention, program effectiveness, and other issues that will assist the organization in growing donors, members, and volunteers.


Job Duties

  • Input data into cloud based database system
  • Draw reports from database to look at things like member retention, donor retention, member geography etc.
  • Review reports to look for trends in data. Work with staff to see how those trends impact the organization
  • Research best practices for donor/member retention, database management, member communication etc. with the goal of growing members and donors.
  • Assist in implementation of those best practices.
  • Interview long-term volunteers to document institutional knowledge, particularly as applies to things like member retention, program effectiveness, etc.
  • Work with volunteers to increase their understanding of database management and develop skills to utilize the database.



  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Desire to learn the business side of nonprofit management.
  • Strong computer skills, previous database experience helpful. Ability to use MS Office. Ability to use or ability to learn Constant Contact and Little Green Light.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision at times.
  • Ability to work with volunteers, especially those with limited technical skills.
  • This is an unpaid internship with the potential to gain valuable employment skills in nonprofit administration.
