Classroom and Curriculum Support Intern

Snohomish County Goodwill Youth Aerospace Program | Marysville, WA

The following internship opportunities with Snohomish County Goodwill Youth Aerospace Program are offered with supervision by Samuel Iniguez (Creative Writing, 2015).

Seeking 1-2 interns to provide mentorship and instructional support in each of the following areas for Summer 2018:

  • Documentary film-making/video (editing experience not required)
  • Classroom and curriculum support

Students with interests in education, social services, community development, and/or arts and media are encouraged to consider these opportunities.

Internships are unpaid, but students at the undergraduate and graduate levels can receive academic credit.

As a kick off to an intense two years, students in the Youth Aerospace Program spend eight weeks in their first summer working on aerospace career exploration, team building, self-sufficiency, leadership, and service learning.

To strengthen the student experience this summer, we are looking for two volunteer interns able to help 10-12 hours per week with at-risk youth to provide mentorship and instructional support.

We are particularly looking for college students needing internships to complete degree programs and who have strong interest in social services, adolescent development, education, and/or STEM initiatives. For seven hours every day, five days each week, program staff provide enriching learning opportunities for students including interactive classroom instruction, industry tours, high-stakes competitions, field trips, hands-on aviation and advanced manufacturing learning activities, and community service projects.

Eligibility Requirements:

 21 years or older with a clean driving record

 Eligible to earn college credit / needing internship for degree program

 Available to work from June 28 to September 7, 2018

 Able to pass a thorough background check

 Previous experience with at-risk populations and six months of some kind of teaching/mentorship experience

Program Expectations:

 Provide 10-12 hours each week for 10 weeks (prep week, summer program, wrap-up week)

 Be on time, ready for work, and setting a positive example for our students at all times

 Provide classroom support for the instructor, including some teaching and tracking of student progress

 Maintain professional boundaries and keep students out of danger

 Submit a brief report of activities and minor incidents to supervisor each day

 Assist students with projects and presentations and other duties as assigned

Interested students will need to complete the Seattle Goodwill Internship Application and agree to a thorough background check. Applications can be obtained by submitting a resume/CV and letter of interest that covers your qualifications for this role and your interest and goals working with us this summer. If your application is approved by Seattle Goodwill, final paperwork will include any required documents to gain college credit for successful completion of the program.
