Open Learning Lab - UW Bothell 

The Information Technologies department seeks a UW Bothell student for the job of Student Technologist. We encourage students to apply who may not feel they have the technical skills to work in IT but are willing to learn.

A good candidate has the following qualities:

  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Works hard and takes pride in the work
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of users who have a range of technical experience from beginner to advanced
  • Ability to work and learn in a team or independently and is self-motivated
  • Exhibits a close attention to detail and deadlines
  • Desire and aptitude to learn about digital media production and learning technologies such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Canvas, Google apps etc.
  • Prior experience in a customer service position (highly desirable)

Job Expectations

  • Student Technologists will be expected to learn and perform the following tasks (note: you do not have to know how to do all of these things when you start - we will train you):
  • Perform superior customer service
  • Help students and faculty with technology questions (in-person, phone, and email)
  • Learn to tutor students on the use of learning technologies and digital media production such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Canvas, Panopto, Google apps etc.
  • Maintain and build content for the Learning Technologies website and blog
  • Research new technologies and educational issues and prepare reports based on research findings
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of workshops, tutorials, and orientations to computing and multimedia production processes and services
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of LT supported products and services
  • Utilize downtime to improve skills or complete special projects
  • Review and recommend modifications to LT procedures
  • Complete other projects as assigned


  • Monday – Friday, variable shifts - 9am to 5pm.
  • Compensation: $15.00 per hour
