Seattle Parks and Recreation is seeking a junior or senior college intern to support the department with graphic design, social media posting and online communications. Grow your design and marketing skills. Learn how to communicate content to large, diverse audiences. Gain experience in making complex reports and data into simple, engaging digital and online campaigns. Learn how to find innovative ways of connecting people to resources, activities, and programs that could benefit them and their family. Develop project management skills, and the ability to engage internal staff in supporting and creating exciting print and digital communications/marketing materials.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Using graphic design tools to develop print and digital materials.
  • Brainstorming and supporting communications campaigns and projects.
  • Getting out to parks and community centers. Taking photos and getting interviews from community and staff.


Must be enrolled in an accredited educational program preferably studying Graphic Design or Communications.. Undergraduate interns must maintain a satisfactory GPA of 2.0 or higher for the duration of the internship.


  • Experience with graphic design tools (Adobe products, etc.), social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.),
  • Good people skills (friendly, welcoming, and helpful).
  • Desired Qualifications:
  • Website creation management skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Speaks a language other than English.

Additional Information:

  • Start/End Dates: Intern will start in late June/early July and end in September 2017.
  • Schedule: Intern will work between 10-20 hours/week between the hours of 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.
  • Salary: Undergraduates will be paid $16.12/hour.
