Many prominent national retailers and e-commerce companies are headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, including Amazon, Costco, Starbucks, Eddie Bauer, REI, Zumiez, and Nordstrom. With these large firms driving the retail and e-commerce sectors, students can gain insights into emerging retail trends and traditional and digital retail strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can Obtain a Retail Management Minor?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All UW Bothell, UW Seattle, and UW Tacoma non-business majors may earn a Minor in Retail Management.  Interested students should discuss the feasibility of completing this minor with their major program advisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Prospective students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7 to be eligible. Before taking retail minor classes, students must complete these courses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>B BUS 201 \u2013 Introduction to Business (minimum grade of 2.7 required)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BBUS 300 \u2013 Organizational Behavior, Ethics, and Inclusivity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BBUS 320 \u2013 Marketing Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students may take MGMT 300: Leadership and Organizational Behavior and\/or MKTG 301: Marketing Concepts at the UW Seattle Campus to satisfy the requirements of B BUS 300 and B BUS 320, respectively. Although the above Seattle Campus courses are one credit less than their Bothell Campus equivalents, students will not be required to take additional credits to make up the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After completing the above prerequisites, the following courses must be taken to obtain the Retail Management Minor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>BBUS 445 \u2013 Merchandise Acquisition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BBUS 446 \u2013 Strategic Retail Promotion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BBUS 447 \u2013 Retail Operations and Supply Chain Management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BBUS 448 \u2013 Retail Technology and Leadership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Internship<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Retail students are encouraged to complete an <a href=\"\/business\/resources-opportunities\/intern-jobs\">internship<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Declaring the Minor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To declare this minor, please contact your major program advisor. Your advisor will confirm that you have met the minor\u2019s prerequisites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Registering for Classes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who have been accepted into the Retail Management minor will be able to register for Retail Management courses starting Registration Period 2. Minor students should contact&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:uwbadvis@uw.edu\">uwbadvis@uw.edu<\/a>&nbsp;to obtain help registering for a course that requires an add code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Graduation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon graduation, the minor will be indicated on the student\u2019s transcript but will not appear on the student\u2019s diploma.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why Study Retail Management?
