Deborah Medlar teaches courses in accounting and law. Her focus is on Taxation. She was granted her JD from the University of Washington Law School and her LL.M. Taxation from New York University. Previously she taught at the University of Washington in the MPAcc Taxation program and as a professor at Central Washington University. She has won numerous teaching awards, including the WSCPA Accounting Professor of the Year award. Prior to teaching she practiced law and remains a member of the Washington State Bar Association.
She also has been very active in Beta Alpha Psi, the global financial honorary for university students. For 6 years she was the faculty advisor at the University of Washington Seattle chapter. She was awarded the BAP National Outstanding Faculty Advisor of the Year award in 2009. She has served as a member of the BAP Board of Directors and also as a BAP Chapter Advocate (Regional Coordinator) for the Western and Northwestern Region of BAP.
