If behavior\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0meet these expectations, or those in the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/policy.uw.edu\/directory\/sgp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University\u2019s Student Conduct Code<\/a>\u202for\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/wac\/default.aspx?cite=478-121\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 478-121<\/a>, you may lose access to\u00a0the Academic Advising Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Academic Advising&nbsp;Values<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By entering the Academic Advising Center&nbsp;(the UW1-160 suite, including shared spaces and connected offices), you agree to engage with advisors, staff, and peers in a manner that is&nbsp;appropriate, courteous, and constructive, ensuring a positive environment for all. In practice, this includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Respectful interactions<\/strong>:&nbsp;Participate&nbsp;in your&nbsp;advising appointment&nbsp;actively&nbsp;and respectfully.&nbsp;Some&nbsp;advising&nbsp;appointments include difficult conversations, but respect is&nbsp;always&nbsp;required.&nbsp;This includes no-name calling, and that we all sometimes make mistakes but still deserve respect.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Noise&nbsp;and disruption&nbsp;awareness<\/strong>: Silence phones and device speakers; take calls in the hallway; use an indoor voice; and&nbsp;refrain from any behavior that is disruptive to others in the Center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shared&nbsp;space care<\/strong>: Clean up before leaving; treat furniture, materials, and equipment responsibly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Academic Advising&nbsp;Expectations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In short, disruptive behavior or actions in the Academic Advising Center&nbsp;aren\u2019t&nbsp;okay. Our staff will decide what counts as disruptive on a case-by-case&nbsp;basis&nbsp;and Academic Advising leadership has the final say. More specifically, everyone who visits agrees to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Formally&nbsp;check-in<\/strong>: Present valid Husky Card, NetID, or Student Number as&nbsp;required&nbsp;and follow check-in, check-out, and attendance procedures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Honor appointments<\/strong>: Arrive on time; cancel or reschedule in advance.&nbsp;&nbsp;Multiple no-show appointments will result in&nbsp;<s>having<\/s>&nbsp;limited&nbsp;opportunities&nbsp;to schedule future appointments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Follow staff directions &amp; posted policies<\/strong>: Follow the Academic Advising Community Agreement, space limits, and technology use guidelines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use&nbsp;appropriate language &amp; behavior<\/strong>: Profanity, insults, or obscene gestures, and\/or hostile or disruptive conduct are not allowed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Refrain from asking&nbsp;Academic Advising&nbsp;staff personal questions or requesting contact information<\/strong>: Your relationship with the staff does not extend beyond&nbsp;the scope of academic advising and your work at UW Bothell.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Breaking the Community Agreement &amp; Consequences<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Any behavior that does not follow our&nbsp;expectations listed above or otherwise disrupts services will result in the following progressive discipline steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Response &amp; Consequences<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1 \u2013 Review\/Renewal of Community Agreement<\/strong>:&nbsp;Advising&nbsp;staff will issue a verbal reminder to follow the policies listed above and\/or ask you to review this document. Inappropriate behavior that stops after Step 1 requires no further response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2 \u2013 Immediate Action<\/strong>:&nbsp;Advising&nbsp;staff may issue a warning, end a session, or ask a visitor to leave the space. Severe cases, e.g., threats, harassment, theft, aggressive or obscene gestures directed at individuals, will result in immediate removal and potential referral to Campus Safety and\/or Student Conduct. This step may include written documentation of the incident and will be sent to all affected parties after the&nbsp;incident&nbsp;including the office of Student Conduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3 \u2013 Loss of&nbsp;Center Access<\/strong>: Repeated violations can lead to a loss of access to&nbsp;the Academic Advising Center&nbsp;and\/or a referral to Student Conduct.&nbsp;In these cases,&nbsp;advising&nbsp;services will be provided remotely and\/or asynchronously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Severe Misconduct<\/strong>: Some behaviors (e.g., violence, threats, harassment, issues&nbsp;regarding&nbsp;student safety) may trigger&nbsp;an&nbsp;immediate ban from&nbsp;the Academic Advising Center&nbsp;and referral to Campus Safety and Student Conduct without prior steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All incidents are documented.
