This means you are admitted to the university without a declared major and will have time to explore academic interests while completing prerequisite coursework during your first year or two. With support from your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/advising\/\">Academic Advisor<\/a>, you\u2019ll plan and complete the requirements needed to apply to or declare your intended major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the pre-major pathway, some first-year students may be eligible for one of the following options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Direct admission:<\/strong> Based on the coursework and credits listed in your application, you may be admitted directly into an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/admissions\/apply\/application-dates-deadlines#:~:text=Post%2DBaccalaureate)-,MAJOR%20CATEGORIES,-Open%20major%3A\">open major<\/a> if you meet prerequisite requirements and space is available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Program-ready pathway:<\/strong> Some are identified as potential program-ready students based on the credits and coursework from their application. After getting admitted into UW Bothell, these students will receive additional instructions to confirm whether they meet their major&#8217;s prerequisites to be eligible to apply to or declare their intended major.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you will have earned <strong>more than 45 college credits<\/strong> as a high school student, you may be eligible to declare or apply to your major. <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.uwb.edu\/portal\/counselor_portal?tab=FY\">Contact your Admissions Counselor<\/a> between February 1 and May 1 to learn more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transfer and post-baccalaureate students<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Transfer and post-baccalaureate applicants apply directly to their major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-thick\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"financial-aid\">Questions about financial aid:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does my financial aid award letter mean?  <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your financial aid award letter was determined from the information you provided on the FAFSA or WASFA. Your award letter is a collection of grants, scholarships, and loans to help you pay for the cost of attendance. You have the choice to accept or decline any of the grants, scholarships, or loans that were awarded to you. If you are still having trouble understanding your award letter, be sure to connect with our <a href=\"\/financial-aid\">Financial Aid Office<\/a> or meet with a financial aid counselor during office drop-in hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When will I receive my financial aid award letter?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Financial aid award letters will be available by mid-April for students who have submitted a FAFSA or WASFA. You may view your award letter on your MyUW account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I waive my enrollment confirmation deposit? Can I get it refunded?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The enrollment confirmation deposit (ECD) is NON-REFUNDABLE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ECD cannot be waived, however it can be deferred. Deferring your deposit means that we will add the ECD to your autumn quarter tuition bill. Note, if you defer your deposit and decide not to enroll at UW Bothell, you will still be responsible for paying the ECD. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To defer your enrollment confirmation deposit, please email <a href=\"mailto:uwbinfo@uw.edu?subject=Defer%20Enrollment%20Confirmation%20Deposit\">uwbinfo@uw.edu<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-thick\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"new-student\">Questions about starting as a new student:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I sign up for Orientation?  <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you can attend an Advising &amp; Orientation session, you must first pay your enrollment confirmation deposit. After your deposit has been paid, be sure to pay close attention to your UW email to receive updates about registration. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/orientation\/\">Visit our Orientation &amp; Transition Programs webpage to learn more!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a mandatory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/orientation\/new-student-enrollment-orientation-fee\">New Student Enrollment and Orientation Fee (NSEOF)<\/a>, which covers the cost of a variety of programs and resources to assist you in your first year of attendance. The NSEOF is only charged during your first quarter of attendance and is refundable to students who choose not to attend UW Bothell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I sign up for classes\/register?  <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You will sign up for classes during your Advising &amp; Orientation session. More information will be available to you after you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/orientation\/\">complete the UWB101 Online Orientation<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What classes should I take?  <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>As a college student, you will have full control of your course schedule, which can be a little unsettling. No worries though, our academic advising team (<a href=\"\/premajor\">First Year &amp; Pre-Major Program<\/a>) is here to help you! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a part of Advising &amp; Orientation, you will meet one-on-one with an academic advisor to help you plan your schedule and identify classes for you to take. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I transfer my credits from AP, IB or A\/AS exams?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you decide to enroll at UW Bothell and would like to receive college credit for the AP, IB or A\/AS Level exams you have taken, you will need to submit your <a href=\"https:\/\/apstudents.collegeboard.org\/sending-scores\">official AP scores<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibo.org\/university-admission\/support-students-transition-to-higher-education\/requesting-and-sending-transcripts\/\">official IB scores<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/admit.washington.edu\/apply\/freshman\/exams-for-credit\/a-as-level\/\">official A\/AS Level exam certificate<\/a> to the Office of Admissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For information about how the UW awards course equivalencies and credits for each exam, <a href=\"https:\/\/admit.washington.edu\/apply\/transfer\/exams-for-credit\/\">visit this website.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jump to sections: Questions about your major: How do I get into my major at UW Bothell?
