As of September 1, 2017, the University of Washington Board of Regents approved the U-PASS rate of $110.00 per quarter (effective Fall 2018) for individual passes. Please read the following information regarding the ORCA powered U-PASS.
You can purchase or cancel a U-Pass online prior to the 7th calendar day of each academic quarter as follows:
Go to: https://weblogin.washington.edu/
- Log into your MyUW account
- Click on "Register & SNL Codes"
- Click on “Insurance and Optional charges”
- Then Opt-in or Opt-out to the U-Pass – “I want the benefits of the U-Pass” or I do not want the benefits of the U-Pass"
After the 7th calendar day of the quarter it will need to be purchased at the Cashier’s Office.
The $110.00 fee will be added to the tuition bill.
Your new U-PASS needs to be activated after purchase. Activation takes three easy steps:
To participate in the U-PASS program, you first purchase U-PASS membership at the campus where your primary work or academic major is based.
You must wait 24 to 48 hours after purchase before you can use your U-PASS on transit. U-PASS activation for transit is uploaded onto the readers on buses when they are at the base (i.e. not on the road). Train station readers are updated daily.
3. Tap within 60 days
To finalize the activation of your U-PASS for use on transit, you must use it for transit service within 60 days of purchase. Tapping your card on the ORCA reader updates your chip and finalizes activation of your U-PASS for transit. If you do not tap onto transit within 60 days, your U-PASS will not work for transit fare payment and you will need to request reactivation of your U-PASS transit benefit.
If your Husky Card is lost, stolen or damaged, your U-PASS will be electronically transferred to your replacement Husky Card. Your U-PASS will be available for use on transit 24 to 48 hours after your replacement Husky Card is printed. You must use tap your Husky Card on an ORCA card reader within 60 days of receiving your new Husky Card to finalize your U-PASS activation.
The U-PASS is the property of UW Bothell, and may not be loaned, sold, or transferred in any manner to another person. Misuse of the U-PASS will result in confiscation by the University, King County Metro, Sound Transit, or Community Transit.
To reclaim a confiscated card, contact the Husky Card ID office during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm) at 425-352-5000 or visit Husky Hall 1456.
Report a lost U-PASS and get a new Husky Card at Husky Hall and check in at the Welcome Desk in the main lobby. The cost of replacing a lost Husky Card is $25 and will be added to your student account. You can pay this fee at the Cashier's Office or online at no charge using the web-check option. Your U-PASS will automatically be electronically transferred to your replacement Husky Card. Your U-PASS will be available for use on transit in 24 to 48 hours. You will need to finalize the reactivation by tapping it on an ORCA reader within 60 days.

Faculty and staff members who purchased a U-PASS on a quarterly basis via cash, check, or Husky Debit will not receive a refund if terminating employment with the University of Washington Bothell. In the event of termination of employment with the University the U-PASS purchased on a quarterly basis will remain active through the remainder of the quarter.
Faculty and staff members who purchased a U-PASS on a quarterly or annual basis through payroll deduction must submit a written request to email@example.com with subject line “Cancel UPASS Payroll Deductions” to have their U-PASS deactivated and deductions cancelled before the validity period ends. Refunds will only be given for deductions that are erroneously taken after the final use deduction period as requested in the written request or those taken after the U-Pass has expired and has not been renewed. Without a written cancellation request the Faculty/staff member is responsible for the U-PASS fee even if they are no longer using their U-PASS through the validity period.
In order to provide the convenience of single-card access to all campus services, the UW decided to include the smart chip inside the new Husky Card instead of issuing standard ORCA cards. The transit portion of your U-PASS will use the ORCA system to process payment for transit, but will not provide access to the full range of ORCA services.
The card cannot be registered in the ORCA system and you will not be able to add E-purse Funds. If you choose to add other ORCA products and your card is lost, stolen, or damaged, neither the University nor the ORCA agencies will replace those products.
To receive the benefits associated with ORCA card registration and/or the ability to replace ORCA products if your card is lost, stolen, or damaged, please contact ORCA to purchase a standard ORCA Card.
