Ruth Johnston was named vice chancellor for the University of Washington Bothell Office of Administration and Planning in December 2016 after serving in an interim capacity for several months.
Johnston will provide leadership in key areas related to administrative, financial, facilities and human resource operations of the campus in support of the academic mission.
Johnston is a longtime University leader, with 36 years of experience in areas including housing and food services, continuing education, human resources, financial management and finance and facilities, and organizational excellence. She also served as associate vice president and chief of staff for the UW Office of Planning & Management, with responsibility for units including organizational excellence, UW Sustainability and the business diversity program.
Johnston holds a doctorate in organizational development and higher education, a master’s degree in human relations and a bachelor’s in counseling psychology.
