Thank you for agreeing to serve on the advisory search committee for the position of Vice Chancellor for Planning & Administration (VCPA) at UW Bothell. This position is important to the future of the University, providing leadership in key areas related to the administrative, fiscal, audit, facilities, information technology, community relations, and organizational excellence and human resource operations of the campus. The scope of responsibility that lies within the office of the VCPA is immense. Finding the right person to fill this role is a significant responsibility. Thank you for your willingness to assume this role on the search committee.
The committee will be chaired by Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Sharon A. Jones and will be supported by Beatrice (Bea) Erikson. We have engaged the search firm Isaacson Miller (IM) to assist you with your work. The IM team will be led by Regan Gough who will work closely with you to recruit, screen, and evaluate candidates. She will be assisted by Drew Kessler and Joe Kralick. The first meeting for the search committee will occur by late November. Sharon and Bea will contact you with additional details as we get sooner to that date. I will plan to attend a portion of that first meeting to discuss the search with you.
I ask that you provide input to refine the position description for the next Vice Chancellor and that you work to develop a broad and diverse pool of candidates. The draft advertisement for this position, which represents a high-level summary of qualities and experience desired, is attached for your reference. I ask you identify three highly qualified candidates for on-campus interviews with our various campus constituencies. I will be making the final decision of the successful candidate. Throughout the process, please solicit the input of the UW Bothell community as well as the external partners who work closely with the VCPA.
The timeline includes final interviews completed by the end of March or early April 2020 with an offer and acceptance during the early part of the Spring quarter. This will require a significant commitment by each member of this committee. I am grateful for your willingness to invest the time and energy necessary to reach a successful conclusion.
