Writing Center

I find working at a university exciting and challenging—exciting because I'm surrounded by freshmen who are eager and scared as they enter the world of college life, challenging because I need to keep up with the energy levels of our college students! It reminds me of my days as a college student when I attended Eastern Washington University and would rush across the campus to my next class, spend late nights studying for exams, and juggle a full-time job. I didn't know it at the time, but this gave me tools for balancing time and tasks that I have put into practice in the working world.

Prior to attending EWU, I went to Kinman Business University and received a secretarial degree. My original goal was to become a teacher, but a different path led me in new directions. One of those directions gave me the opportunity to work in radio where I exercised some of my creative talents working with Rain Music as the production assistant for live music recording as well as live drama performances.

Creativity is what I enjoy about the Writing Center. The tutors here have such passion about their writing. Hearing them discuss authors and work with students on their assignments is delightful! I think it is a good place to be to shake the oatmeal out of your brain.

I look forward to working here at the Writing Center for many years; I enjoy working with the people who make up the staff. We are having fun on the job, and if you can't have fun at work, then it's time to find a new job.
