You are invited to:
UW Bothell ePortfolio Symposium
Friday, September 20, 2013
8:30am - 4:00pm
North Creek Events Center
Sponsored by Teaching and Learning Center and Office of Undergraduate Learning
UW Bothell, with the endorsement of AAEEBL, has revised its ePortfolio gathering into a one, instead of two, day series of conversations. We are re-organizing for the day of September 20th, 8:30am - 4:00pm, and will all be involved in a series of linked activities exploring the emergence of the ePortfolio as a powerful learning platform. We will waive all registration fees, and, if you confirm with us that you will be participating, we can pay for your parking in advance.
Since students learn in an unlimited number of venues and roles - not only in our curricula and co-curricula, but also from jobs, family, friends, hobbies, places of worship, travel, and the internet - educators need tools and concepts for helpng students reflect upon and make sense of all their learning.
When we examine, for instance, AAC&U's analysis of "high-impact practices," we readily see that ePortfolios are one important experience that can foster holistic learning by providing a space for students to reflect upon and make connections among their myriad learning experiences. It also gives them hands-on practice of using multi-media to present a dynamic and persuasive image of their college work to graduate schools, future employers, and other audiences.
We are excited to welcome all of you to the UW Bothell's North Creek Events Center on Friday, September 20th. Please don't hesitate to call or write with questions: email@example.com.
