Students with an Academic Warning Status
What is Academic Warning?
Academic warning is defined by the University as follows:
An undergraduate student whose GPA falls below 2.00 in his or her first quarter at the University receives an Academic Warning. If a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 for courses earned in residence at the University is not achieved by the end of the next quarter, he or she is placed on academic probation.
What should I do if I am placed on Academic Warning?
Students who do not fulfill the following requirements will have a hold placed on their academic record.
All CUSP students with a scholarship status of “Warning” must make an appointment to meet with Paul Mahon, Low Scholarship Advisor, within the first three weeks of the following quarter. To make an appointment, please go to WC Online and select the following:
• the Advising Schedule for the current quarter
• the day/time you would like to meet with Paul Mahon
• Academic Warning or Probation as the ‘Reason for Your Appointment’
During this meeting, students will complete an Academic Plan. The Academic Plan will be used to assist students in improving their academic performance.
Students placed on Academic Warning with a GPA of 1.0 or below must also attend one “Getting Back on Track” workshop. Please go to http://tinyurl.com/6laloxt to sign-up for a workshop day/time.
Students on Academic Probation
What is Academic Probation?
Academic probation is defined by the University as follows:
An undergraduate student is placed on Academic Probation at the end of any quarter (except for the first quarter at the University, when an academic warning is issued) in which his or her cumulative GPA falls below 2.00. The student remains on probation until their cumulative GPA is raised to at least 2.00. If this requires more than one quarter's work, the student must maintain a quarterly GPA of at least 2.50 each succeeding quarter or the student will be dropped for low scholarship.

To make an appointment, please go to WC Online and select the following:

2. All students on academic probation for the first time will attend the “Getting Back on Track” workshop, unless the student attended this workshop while on Academic Warning. Please go to http://tinyurl.com/6laloxt to sign-up for your workshop time.
Continuing Probation Students
Continuing probation students are students who have been placed on Academic Probation for more than one quarter because their overall GPA is not 2.0 or higher.
